Rotary Club of Nairobi South
Rotary Club of Nairobi South was chartered in 1963 at which time only Europeans were Members. Our Club is the second oldest in Nairobi and third in Kenya. The first Club President was Graham Clarke who later on went to become District Governor.
Founding & Roots
Other notable members of the club were Pius Menezes (the first non-European member 1959) and Abdul Lakha. Mr. B. M. Gichanga was the first African member followed by Don Menya. Our long standing members were late Kundan Doshi, and Rustam Hira, who was the first Assistant District Governor for Nairobi.
District 9212 Alignment
Rotary Club of Nairobi South are members of Rotary International, we are in District 9212 which comprises, Kenya, Ethiopia, South Sudan and Eritrea. Our club is now over 60 years and still going strong. We celebrated our Golden Jubilee in June 2013. The event was graced by none other than our First Lady H.E. Margaret Kenyatta.
Club Sustainability
The success of our club programs and sustainability can be attributed to our twenty-some members who are from varied backgrounds and professions for their selfless contributions of time, finance, leadership, fellowship and management.

Won the coveted giving award during the 91st District Conference in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Recognized for public relations and image excellence during the 91st District Conference.
2nd Best Club in Returns Submission
Awarded for outstanding efficiency and prompt returns reporting at the district level.
Recognition for Public Image
Received recognition for Public Image excellence during the 94th District Conference in Kisumu.
New Generation Programmes
Rotary Club of Nairobi South has for several years been managing New Generation programmes that target youth in High school and Universities designed to develop them into responsible and productive Citizens of our society.
Rotaract Club: Kenyatta University
Our Club has an active Rotaract Club at Kenyatta University which currently boasts of over a hundred members. Their activities involve organizing regular career talks for fellow students and involvement in community service such as tree planting that support global environment conservation. The students also raise funds and food donations for Christ Our Refuge Children’s Home in Kahawa West (an orphan children's home which they have adopted) and helped them install a water tank through their members' fundraising efforts.
Interact Clubs: State House Girls & Upper Hill
Our club has been sponsoring thirty (30) needy and deserving students in Upper Hill Secondary school and State House Girls High School. Our programme has been praised by the schools' administration for assisting needy students go through the High School education Programme smoothly. Our Interact Clubs have been involved in Clean Up activities in their schools' compounds, including planting of trees and provision of Dust Bins. The Interact Club members have also adopted Philomena Children’s Home in Kayole Slums.
Rotary Club of Nairobi South successfully Chartered The Rotary Club of Kirinyaga (2013-2014). We also mentor our ‘baby club’ Rotaract Club of Kenyatta University and our Interact Clubs of State House Girls School and Upper Hill Primary & Secondary School.
